1 Corinthians 2:10

God reveals His truths through His Spirit to our spirits. God has put His Spirit in us so that we can comprehend God who is Spirit. The spirit alone can understand the Spirit. Many people mix up human wisdom with God’s wisdom. They use their wisdom and cunning cleverness. When you do that, you will not have the power of God with you. A Christian has to be a plain man. He has to speak first of the Cross of Jesus. We speak to the people of the Cross of Jesus and not philosophy, even though it be Christian philosophy. The Cross must be prominent in our hearts. If Christ had not died for you, you would have had no hope. You must not think of the death of Christ in general terms. You must realise you are a sinner unable to get out of sin’s clutches.

How are we to present to people this mystic death of Jesus? This death on the cross appeals to the spirit of man. The spirit of man feels the power of the death on the cross. Until the spirit of man is thus touched, your preaching is of no use. We have to speak not in the wisdom of man but in the power of God. So unless the Spirit opens men’s eyes they cannot understand anything. The moment God’s Spirit touches man’s spirit, there comes a revelation. Your mind does not know what is in you. You spirit knows what is in you. You spirit must be awakened. When a man’s spirit is awakened he feels he is a desperate sinner. Unless he feels that way, he will not value salvation. People whose spirit is not touched cannot understand the Scriptures.

We will understand the Scriptures fully when we are perfect. Now we understand it partly. When you do not understand some parts of the Bible, know that you have not prayed enough. Your spirit has not been perfectly awakened. A praying man can understand the Scriptures easily. Revelation comes like a flash to him. There is a mystic revelation in prayer. When revelation comes to you suddenly it will make you rejoice. Psalm 36:9, "for with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light." If there was no light in the world since our birth, our eyes would not have functioned. We need light to see light. St. Paul is revealing a great truth by saying, "the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God."

The Holy Spirit knows the whole Bible. He will teach you. The Spirit begins to teach us Christian life. Thus your body, mind and spirit will be controlled and you will walk in God’s will. We must all go forward into perfection. As you are growing into perfection, you will be filled with the Spirit of God. Your very presence will touch and save men.
