September 3rd, 1994                              “Faith In God”                                      Mrs. N. Daniel

Let us read Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”  Also Heb.12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

In the 11th chapter of Hebrews we see a number of people who exercised faith in God. The 12th chapter says Christ is the author and the finisher of our faith. We are here to learn that faith which Jesus learnt when He was on earth. He was abiding in God and looking unto heaven and keeping Himself in God's will, He learnt faith.

Jesus said about that woman of Canaan, when she went to Him and pleaded with Him to cast out the devil from her daughter, “GREAT IS YOUR FAITH.” So, that is the faith which we have to learn from Jesus Christ - that 'Great' faith. Jesus wanted His disciples to learn that great faith. But till the end, Jesus found it hard to lift them to higher levels of exercising great faith in God. When a devil-possessed lunatic was brought by his father to Jesus Christ, the disciples could not cast out the devil. So Jesus was very much grieved at their lack of faith. He said, “If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will do great things, and all your prayers God will hear.” He talked about the great faith of the mother. But when he looked at His disciples, He wondered if they had grown in faith at least to a small level - the mustard seed level of faith! He talked about small faith. Sometimes even people who are saved lack faith. Jesus talked about great faith and also about small faith. Jesus said, “Faith only as big as a mustard seed can remove big mountains. With such faith if you order a mountain to be removed from its place, it will be removed.” God said, big problems can be solved if we have at least that amount of faith as a mustard grain.

A certain family came to the Retreat. The last time I met them, they were in great sorrow because of their family problems. I tried to help them at that time. They wanted to learn faith. Now the family situation has improved. The wife has been seeing great things of God by praying and exercising faith. Now she and her husband are very happy in their home. She is growing in faith. Both of them are growing. So, what Jesus said, how true it is! How peace came into that home! They are exercising faith and seeing victory in Jesus Christ.

Jesus trained up Peter who always lacked the faith which Jesus expected from him. Peter later talks about the trial of faith in I Peter 1:7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” Though Jesus wanted to build His church upon his faith, Peter did not quickly learn that amount of faith or prayer. But finally he talks about precious faith. Jude refers to the most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit. (vs.20) Christ’s faith endured all suffering. We have just now read that verse in Hebrews. So, we have to learn in this house of God, the faith of Jesus.

The highest faith is seen in Abraham. God taught Abraham such faith as not to set his love on anything else but on God. He learnt that perfect faith. God said, “ABRAHAM, BE PERFECT. YOU ARE GOING TO BE A FATHER. YOU ARE 99 YEARS OLD. YOU HAVE TO BE PERFECT.” He and his wife were going to be the father and mother of nations. Their faith would reach not only to their grandchildren and great-grandchildren, but to many nations. God was going to bless, not only Abraham, but also Sarah. Gen.17:6 “And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.” Gen 17:16 “And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.” When God starts blessing, He wants to bless all the members in the family. Sarah also became the mother of nations. What we learn in this Fellowship is going to be a blessing for generations. This is a training centre. We have to learn faith in Jesus Christ. We have to learn that great faith, the mustard seed faith, holy faith, precious faith and perfect faith. We must get promises from GOD. Only by looking unto Jesus we can learn this faith. When we are learning Jesus' faith, then we won't mind shame or death or difficulties.

During this last ministry journey we have seen that there is a great need for this teaching of faith. But, there are people who are trying to exercise faith in Jesus Christ because they are learning that Christ is Victor and they too can become great victors through Him. We see young families loving Jesus Christ and working hard to spread the gospel. So, if we get this perfect faith of Jesus Christ, and that great faith, precious faith and holy faith, God will bless us too to be blessings for generations and to many nations. In this one life we have to be blessings now and forever. God will bless each one to become a blessing to the nations. For that, we have to read the Bible. We have to learn to talk to God, and God will then talk to us. God has got great plans for us. So, we should not waste our time. God wants to give us heavenly help. That is what we asked of Him before we left for London. And, we were able to see ministering angels and loving people helping us willingly on our journey. We saw much victory in the ministry also. So, our prayers are not going to waste. Our God hears our prayers and answers our prayers. He knows that we lack faith. We must ask the Lord to lift us to a higher level of life with great faith in Jesus Christ. GOD BLESS YOU.
