December 17th, 1994                            “The Blessing in Doing God’s Will”                          Mrs. Daniel

Let us read Genesis 12:1-3 “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

God has got great plans for all of us. God wants to speak to all of us. Here, when God spoke to Abraham, He said that He would bless him. And He said that He would bless his family and through his family he would bless all families. God wants people to learn this family message. All of us belong to a family. God wants to teach us faith in Him, to bless us, and then our whole family. So, God raised up Abraham's family and taught that family great faith in God and obedience to His call. We have to take care to see that all members in the family are converted. God wanted to bless Abraham to be the 'Father of all faithful people on earth.' And then He told Abraham that He would make his wife Sarah the 'Mother of nations on this earth.' What great plans God has, we can see from God's revelations to this one family.

God was talking to Abraham and guiding him into His ways and into His will. Now, how are we guided? Of course, we have the Word of God. We have our Bibles with us. We are taught that if our hearts are right with God, then, His Spirit will guide us. We are taught from Jeremiah 17:1 & 2 that our sins are written on the slate of our hearts with a point of diamond. Such hearts must be brought to the cross of Christ. Most of us have brought our stony hearts to God. And God says in Ezekiel 36:25-27 "Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgements, and do them." When God says that our sins are written on our hearts, He also shows us the way to be rid of our sins because He wants to put His Holy Spirit in our hearts. God says, "I will take away your stony hearts and I will give you hearts of flesh; I will put My spirit within those hearts and I will cause you to walk in my statutes." So, His Spirit will be given to us. In Jude 20th verse, we see that we have to pray in the spirit with that Spirit. So, all provisions have been made for us by God to be guided in His perfect will. In revivals, most of us were taught these truths, and we obeyed. We received new hearts.

Now we have to learn God's will. You heard how the servant of God my husband was taught to obey. People find it very hard to do God's will because they are self-willed people. We are educated people, and tend to be guided by our minds. But, God's will is the highest thing in our spiritual life. God’s will is power. Also, the Spirit of God is the power of God. God wants us to be guided by His Holy Spirit into His will. Those who obey the Word of God according to their understanding are guided further by the Holy Spirit. God's will, will be revealed to those who want to obey Him. To do God's will is not easy. When Abraham was asked to leave his people, his idols, his country and follow Him, it was a new revelation. Such a thought never occurred to him before and yet, God's Spirit helped him and he obeyed.

These days when people are asked to follow God and go to different parts of the country, to stay there and preach the Word, they are afraid. St. Paul did not find it so hard to go to the places where the Spirit of God guided him to go and preach, because he was delivered from his sin and he was delivered from the love of the world. So, first of all, the mistake is in us. We are cleansed from our sins and are happy. But, are we delivered from the love of the world? Immediately after conversion, St. Paul was delivered from the love of the world also. What did he desire for himself? "If I live, I must live for Christ; if I die, I must die for the glory of God. All other things I don't count as gain." So, he was able to glorify God very much, being led by the Spirit of God.

This same truth God taught my husband and me while we were yet teachers in school. To follow God with children, leaving all was not easy. Our own place was a nice place. Just like the disciples were told, "Don't take your purses, don't take many clothes, don't take this and that," those who are called will also be told. When the servant of God had the call of God, to work among young people, he was ready to leave everything and go along with Jesus and with God to win young people for the kingdom of God. God's will was his first concern. We went to Kodaikanal for one month and fasted and prayed for strength to obey the call of God. God gave so much strength and a promise that He would provide and take care of us. Then we came down from the prayer-hill and followed Him. With four children, Christ was with us when we came into this city. We did not bring much money with us, but we had the promise "Jehovah Jireh", God will provide. He had given us clean hearts and His Spirit to guide us in this new place Madras. Now for nearly 60 years we have been working for God in this city. Young people are given special teaching here. Our converted boys and girls wanted their parents and sisters and all the members of their family to be converted. They began to bring their families into this Fellowship to meet God. Thus the Fellowship grew. When the Fellowship was growing here, doors into other countries were also opened for us to serve. Our children got converted when they were very young and in their schools and colleges they became blessings. When the time came for them to get married, they did not choose their partners. God chose for them partners who were converted very young and who were living and working for God. Such people became the members of our family. We came to Madras with four children but God gave us four more children for the work of God. Thus the 10 of us began to work for God. Though our children are given part in the ministry, the Fellowship does not pay anything to them as salaries. God provides them food and clothing. They are winning souls for the kingdom of God.

So, if God is with us, and the promises of God are with us, we will have a new heart, and the Spirit of God. He will guide us into His perfect will. This message of conversions of the whole family has become a blessing to many families in other countries also. The servant of God, my husband, was very particular to do God's will in everything. He asked God where to study for his degree. He needed a college where Maths would be taught and he got a seat in Trichy. He went and studied there. When he had to marry, he wanted to do God's will, and he married according to God's will. When God wanted him to leave everything and follow Him, then also God guided him. When he was sick, at the close of his life, many people began to pray for him. I went alone and prayed. The Spirit of God helped me to pray 'Lord, if it is Thy will, heal him. Then, after I finished my prayer I wondered at what I had prayed, “What is this? I prayed like this! If God takes him away, what a loss it will be! What is this prayer I prayed? It will be a loss to the work and a loss for the family!” I sat beside my husband and talked about this prayer that God gave me. But we had learnt so much faith from God, that he too agreed with the prayer. He wanted God's will regarding healing of his sickness also. There were many people praying for him in his sickness, and that strengthened me very much. But it was God's will not to heal him, but to take him. In the graveyard, my son said, 'Mum, if you want to speak a few words, you can speak.' I had the strength to speak. It was just a short message. I said, “It was my husband who brought us to this knowledge of salvation, and it was he who helped the children to grow up in the fear of God. We both have been working for God and we both used to pray together. Hereafter, I am going to miss my prayer-partner.”

Now, when I look over these 31 years after his departure to heaven, the work has been spreading and God is still working with us. Many people are still turning to the Lord. When I see young people getting converted, I am happy because they have so many years before them to serve God. This gives me much joy. Many people pray for me and so I am living long and have crossed 90 years. God has put my whole family and me in His everlasting love.

Now It is God's will to bless you and all your people. I pray, 'Lord, bless all the families in the Fellowship.' So, let us learn this precious faith, holy faith, great faith which God will teach us. I always place mustard seeds on my table to remind me if we have faith as much as a mustard grain, all things will be possible. These days many devils are not leaving when commanded. There are different kinds of devils in people. Jesus said in Matthew 17:21, “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” This He said when the disciples could not cast out the devil from a lunatic boy. They asked Jesus, "Why could we not cast it out, when you have given us that power to cast out all devils?" He said, "For such cases, fasting prayer is needed." I am seeing that people are being troubled by different kinds of devils. Some are finding it very hard to cast them out. Only if we are in God's will, this will be possible. So let us ask the Lord to give us great faith in Him.

One young boy was leaving this place to go to his town. He came to me for prayer and he told me that he was holding on to the truth he heard in one of my messages. 'If one is holy, then whole heaven will help him.' He told me that when he travels in buses and trains, he remembers these words and keeps himself holy before God, so that heaven might be with him. So, if we are holy people, then, God will guide us into His perfect will and glorify Himself. And, we can glorify Him through our lives. God bless you!
