The Valuable Thing

"I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."  (John 15:5)

We generally buy or like to possess things which are most valuable and which will serve well and last long - in other words - bear much fruit.  Many people plant lime trees.  They bear thousands and thousands of fruit.  God wants us to bear much fruit.

The thought content of man is that which will determine his usefulness.  Are your thoughts divine and holy and pleasing to God?  "... I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things" (John 8:28).  "... I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me" (John 5:30).  If the Holy Spirit is not grieved or in other words, is pleased, you will bear much fruit.

If we have a bottle of perfume, we are very careful with it.  It is a valuable thing and is made not to be wasted.  So also a Christian is valuable and he cannot waste his time in idle talk.

Your sincere prayer and preparation for future service is of great importance.  "Ye have wearied the LORD with your words ... " (Malachi 2:17). Words originate with thoughts.  We are wearying God with our thoughts which are not right.  We have to prepare ourselves.

Your oneness with God is of utmost importance.  Life or death, I will do God's will, must be your aim.  We should expect great things from God and attempt great things for God.  Let us not grieve Him in our words or thoughts.
