A Godly Heritage
"Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them." (Psalm 106:23).
Look at that noble emotion. God is going to destroy His people. Moses did not feel, "Let him do it. Why should I bother?" Many Churches are perishing. They do not want revival. There is nothing we can do. Moses did not think like that. "Wipe off rather my name from the book of life", he pleaded. From this reaction of Moses we can understand that God was right in choosing him. "And I sought for a man among them..." (Ezekiel 22:30). "I am looking for a man who can firmly stand in the gap, ready to give up his life and fight the spiritual battle. I do not find anyone." This is the sigh of God. God feels sad when He looks at our families. There is no son and no daughter who is consecrated and trained for His great plan. Everyone wants to be worldly. Our Christian colleges do not teach them these values. What will be the condition of Churches in the future? The Christian families are captives to the powers of darkness from one generation to the next. They pride in their relationship with so and so. What about their relationship with Christ?
Jacob was worldly for a time but later he cried to God: "I have ruined my family. Oh God, bless me." He got a new name and a new nature. It resulted in bones going out of joint in his body. He was alone with God that night. What a blessed night and what a blessed wrestling! Israel met his children the next day. He met them no more as Jacob. They did not see the face of a deceiver. Joseph may have come running and asked, "Father, what is this new joy in your face? Where were you last night?" He would have described the angel's visit. That was the beginning of the blessing. If you tell your children your first experience with God, it is a blessing. What is your family doing? Are we producing machines to make money, or people whose touch with God shines out of their life? How is your heart? God wants to reveal Himself. Where is Moses? He is with God to receive the law that sanctifies a nation. You are a chosen, consecrated people. God's great plans can be revealed to those around through you only. If Moses, Miriam and their parents had not been there, the history of the Israelites would have been different. Will our family change the history of the Church?
