Conquering in the Days of Youth
"And how shall
they preach, except they be sent? as
it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of
peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" (Romans 10:15)
In the olden days after great battles were won,
men ran with news to their towns with great joy and spread the news
around. Thus the good news would go
round. If we could carry this good news
- 'There is peace, there is victory in Christian life,' what a great blessing
and joy it will bring to others! All around there is defeat and defeated
personalities.
Those who bear this good news
because they themselves have it - what a great blessing they are. Peter had those
beautiful feet, because he had that peace.
Sadhu Sundar Singh
had those feet, because he had that peace.
You could see it in his face. Are
your feet beautiful? We must conquer.
"Ye are of God, little children, and have
overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the
world" (I John 4:4). 'Greater is He
that is in you.' Are you conscious of
that? The Conqueror who won the battle
and declared that all power was given to Him is in you. Your Savior is greater than all.
People are afflicted within themselves,
they are broken to pieces within. What a
beautiful thing it is to tell them, "There is peace. There is victory. He gave me victory over the conflicting
forces within me, which were pulling me down to hell."
People have desires in themselves and appetites
of the flesh conflicting with the desires for holier things. All these can be harmonized and made good by
God. What a Savior you have! How beautiful are the feet of them that bring
the good news - of whom? Of those that
have themselves conquered in the days of their youth.
