The Power of Jesus' Word
Matthew 1:18-25, 2:1-12
Jesus said, "My Word will judge the
world." Every word that He spoke
was a power to change men or heal them or judge them. "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me
void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the
thing whereto I sent it" (Isaiah 55:11).
Christ was so sure of His word.
It was like flinging a weapon into the air which goes and hits the
target and does not fail. He was
inwardly related to the infinite mind of God and when He spoke it was the voice
of Heaven, and the Word had its effect.
Before Lazarus' grave stood a form praying outwardly like you and me,
but it was inwardly so charged with power or spiritual electricity that it
uttered the words of God. Whatever Jesus
spoke became eternal truth.
Here was Joseph who got his instructions from
God in his dreams and when he woke up he worked them out. As you study the Word of God, it works upon
your mind and brings you into tune with God.
Your heart is made for God as a radio is made to receive the
electro-magnetic waves that are sent out into the air. When it is tuned it catches the waves. The Word of God has an impact on your
personality. Read the Word with that knowledge. Our Bible study and prayer is to bring us to
the full stature of Christ. "Till
we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God,
unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of
Christ:" (Ephesians 4:13). Young
men aim at this! This is the highest
degree. In the eternal purpose of God
Joseph played an important part. The
impact of that life is felt all over the world.
God so shaped the life of Joseph that he worked out God's high purposes. He was a humble carpenter but spiritually
highly developed. Our dreams are
meaningless because we deviate from God during the day. What a privilege it is to be linked with the
purposes of God!
