Renewal of Strength
"But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their
strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40: 31)
Some of the statements of the Bible seem very exaggerated, but the experience of men who have tested
them has found them to be all true. Man
has sunk to the depth of the sea due to the weight of his sin. When he confesses his sins at the foot of the
Cross, he comes to the surface and to the shore, to terra firma. But he has to rise higher. Every thought of God lifts him. Every thought of his own pulls him down. Though there is no weight of sin now, there
is the weight of worldly thoughts. Your thoughts are dead weights. They don't let you rise into the rejuvenating
air of Heaven. They that wait on the
Lord get rid of their worldly, weighty thoughts and all their worldly
wisdom. Waiting on God just eliminates
these. When you then take in God's
thoughts you rise. Balloons that are
filled with Hydrogen have to be tied down with strong ropes if they are to be
kept down on the earth(Hydrogen is lighter than
air). If you are getting filled with
lighter thoughts - heavenly thoughts, you can rise higher into a holier
atmosphere. When you read the Bible, it
helps you to replace earthly thoughts by heavenly thoughts. The greatest men are those that completely
get rid of their earthly thoughts and get filled with heavenly thoughts. There is then no waste in their lives.
