The Sufficiency of Prayer
"I am come a light into the world, that whosoever
believeth on me should not abide in darkness."
(John 12:46)
Jesus Christ always spoke about light. We know how important light is for us. He says if we believe in Him, we shall not
abide in darkness. But it is our
experience that we sometimes abide in darkness.
Why? - because of lack of prayer. Cars have very bright lights to enable them
to travel fast. Bicycles do not have
such lights because they do not travel so fast.
In spiritual life if we want to travel fast we need much prayer. We are made of three parts - the spirit, the
soul and body. Our prayer is hardly
sufficient for our soul. It does not
inspire the spirit. Some of us are sick
because our prayer does not throw light on the conditions of the body. If we had sufficient prayer God would teach
us how to keep our bodies healthy and warn us of approaching sickness or tell
us the hindrance to our healing.
