The Vital Things of Life
"But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and
as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre," (John 20:11)
Mary stood weeping and Jesus said to her,
"Why weepest thou?"
God has to rationalize us in many things and
teach us many truths about human life.
When we lose an eternal blessing, we do not weep. But when we lose temporal things, we
weep. People who are with God know when
to weep and when to be glad. We weep so
much for temporal things that we do not have energy left to feel for spiritual
things. We run after worldly things
because of our ignorance.
When we neglect the vital things of life, we are
sowing seeds of our sure failure. Your
failures ten years hence will be traced to the neglect of your spiritual
development now. God wants to develop
qualities in you which will help you to stand against all evil. Christ equipped himself fully against all
evil. He was prepared for all occasions.
"In whom ye also trusted, after that ye
heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that
ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of
promise," (Ephesians 1:13).
Discipline comes by much prayer and with the
help of the Holy Spirit. 'Ye are sealed
with the Holy Spirit.' Discipline
yourself well. Let God discipline you
and prepare you for His service.
