Walk with God
"Thus saith the LORD of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by." (Zechariah 3:7)
God said that Joshua the high priest's filthy garments should be cast away and that he should be clothed with change of raiment. But that was not enough. He had to carefully walk in His ways. The way to be strengthened after conversion is to walk according to the Word of God. Every step you take according to the Word of God will strengthen you. After you are cleansed, God makes provision for the old man to die in you. The old man is there; but he loses his initiative and power. After conversion you will be filled with the Spirit of God. You must fill yourself with the Word of God. The Word of God is Spirit and life. When you are thus filled, you will respect the Word of God. You will not go against the Word but fulfill the Word.
The disciples not only believed in Jesus but followed Jesus. After conversion, the life described in the Sermon on the Mount is as an embryo in you - or potentially in you. As the life of a great tree is contained in a small seed, even so this great new life is in you at conversion.
Many wish to preach the Word. Be careful, you must think soberly about yourself.
At conversion you cling to that which is good and abhor that which is evil. It is easy to have physical enthusiasm in God's work. But we must walk in the Spirit and talk in the Spirit and live in the Spirit. Your body becomes the temple of the Holy Spirit. At conversion, God makes channels in you for the outflow of the Spirit. Whenever an anicut is built, canals also are dug so that the water may flow out for useful purposes. Some people dig channels but there is no dam. There is no new birth. Everyone who is born of the Spirit will get the abundance of the spirit. God will put you in responsibility. You will judge the people. "We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain" (II Corinthians 6:1). You are no more a personality isolated from God. When the Spirit of God is in you it is easy to walk in His ways. You will reign with Him. You will be humble, you will judge yourself more severely than you judge others.
What a privilege to be in charge of His work from the days of your youth! Your wishes will be granted because you are in unison with God. Your desires are ringing loud in Heaven. Angels will rush to fulfill your desires. Enter into this life and become sons and not only servants to God who will fulfill His promises to the full.
