Watching Your Thoughts
"... If thou return, then will I bring thee again, and
thou shalt stand before me: and if thou take forth
the precious from the vile, thou shalt be as my
mouth: ... " (Jeremiah
15:19)
God's children are poisoned by vile thoughts. Saul was given a new heart and a new
spirit. The devil injected one thought
of jealousy into him and poisoned his nature.
A small black spot started on his heart and grew and grew till it
covered the whole heart. The man who was
innocent, pure and holy became black in the sight of God. One thought which was not of God possessed
him. A mosquito net is not wrapped round
the body. If it were wrapped that way
the mosquitoes would easily get at you.
The net is hung so that the mosquito gets nowhere near the man. If you do not allow even one evil thought to
come into your mind and into your spiritual body, you will be mighty for
God. There was just one evil thought in
Judas. He allowed it to come in. It spread all over
his body till he was spiritually paralyzed and nothing good could come out of
him and he betrayed the best man in the world for thirty pieces of silver. Christians must have a net. The net is the fellowship of God's children
and a perfect knowledge of the Word of God.
You must maintain that sensitive spirit which distinguishes the vile
from the precious. A Christian should
not allow even one thought which is not of God to establish itself in him. One wrong thought is enough! If we can distinguish the precious from the
vile, and allow only the precious to come into us, we will be the mouth of
God. We must be very watchful. We must fight the thoughts which are not of
God. In our individual prayer we must
search ourselves to see if any thought of envy, lust, love of money - anything
vile has come into us.
